2019 Artist Lineup

Thursday

Mike Bendy & Sam Smith – Dear Moon

7:00pm – 7:40pm

Mike Bendy

Born and raised in Brooklyn, New York. Mike grew up listening to many diverse styles of music. Since hearing Jimi Hendrix’s performance of the ‘Star Spangled Banner’ from the Monterey Pop Festival when he was four years of age he knew that music was his calling. Mike has eschewed formal education and is a self-taught musician. His skills are unparalleled, being a member of such musical groups as the Bendy Effect, Shotgun Face and the Hipster Assassins.

After graduating Warwick Valley High School Mike quickly snuck in and became friends with the 55 Bar staff and became a regular, taking in the sound of David Binney every other Tuesday of the month and the weekly Thursday night Wayne Krantz trio with Tim Lefebvre and Keith Carlock on drums. That, in effect, was his musical education.

Sam Smith

Sam Smith is a bassist born and raised in Warwick, New York, who currently resides in the Hudson Valley. When not performing with his own band, “Common Tongue,” he can be found backing up a wide variety of artists, giving his unique approach to any situation he can find himself in. Whether he is using the bass guitar to back up a friend, lead an ensemble, or to vocode, Sam is always having the time of his life plucking strings.

Hadrien Feraud was born in Paris on August 16, 1984. Mike Pope

10:00pm – 10:40pm

Mike Pope is best described as a rare triple threat in the bass world. Equally adept at both acoustic bass and 6-string electric bass guitar, he is a world-renowned jazz solo artist, sideman, composer and teacher. Additionally, he is a well-respected designer of high-end amplifiers, preamps and onboard active electronics. Raised in Ohio, Mike attended the University of North Texas State, ultimately migrating to New York City at the recommendation of Michael Brecker, whom he met during a clinic at the school. Pope hit the ground running and was soon performing and recording with Michael and Randy Brecker, Chuck Loeb, Mike Stern, Joe Locke, Jeff “Tain” Watts and Al DiMeola. He released two solo albums, Walk Your Dogma and Lay of the Land, while amassing additional credits with Chick Corea, Bill Bruford, David Sanborn, Geofrrey Keezer and Manhattan Transfer. Connecting with Fodera for a bass in the mid-’90s, he began consulting on their electronics, eventually building the Pope/Fodera onboard preamp. Mike then branched out to start his own Mike Pope Design, currently selling his acclaimed Flex Core Premium Internal Bass Preamp. His designs are also found in Trickfish Amps. Pope continues to tour in support his critically-hailed third solo release, Cold Truth, Warm Heart.
